Primary School Years 3 to 6
In the Primary section at Scholars International Academy, we offer a caring, happy and inspiring environment where children learn, grow and flourish. We are a school community where progress is evident and the children demonstrate daily their enthusiasm to learn.
Children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that your children happy, confident and that the opportunities that are provided that are relevant to their education needs both now and in the future.
We follow the UK National Curriculum and are accredited by the British Schools Oversees and British Schools of the Middle East. Academic learning is highly valued here at SIA and we also know the importance of a broad and balanced education. We recognised the importance of understanding and celebrating all the talents and abilities of each child, enabling each SIA student to grow in confidence, self-responsibility, respect others and achieve their academic goals.
We believe that a happy child is a child who motivated to learn in a positive environment. Our aim is to ensure that each and every SIA child fulfils their potential and is ready for the next stage in their education.
Literacy is central to all learning and an integral part of all our work in the primary department. It is seen as a way whereby each child can develop their thoughts and feelings, their ideas and concepts as well as their language expertise. Every part of the different experiences in school, foster the purposeful use of language, equipping children with the personal and social communication skills they need to become effective members of the community. Their language is developed through a wide range of speaking and listening opportunities incorporating drama and role-play situations. A rich variety of reading materials and frequent writing sessions enable them to acquire the essential skills required at this stage of their education.
Mathematics is a creative and highly inter-connected discipline. It is essential to everyday life, critical to science, technology and engineering, and necessary for financial literacy and most forms of employment.
In Science we aim to develop enquiring minds to gain knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and skills. Children are encouraged through a variety of situations to develop skills of imaginative, disciplined and systematic enquiry. Through practical activities children can develop the ability to formulate and test hypotheses, and above all to understand the provision of scientific explanation.
Our key learning values are woven throughout our curriculum, curiosity, communication, reflection, resilience, motivation, creativity and collaboration. Through our enriched curriculum, we ensure that children can foster a passion for learning and curiosity to develop high academic aspirations. Our program includes specialists teachers in the arts and music and PE and sports, with a wide array of in-school and after-school activities to extend and develop a child’s interest beyond traditional study areas.
The school has a dedicated team that focuses on reaching high academic standards in everything we do and this is further embedded through our relationships with parents. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school and regard you as an active partner in your child’s education and value your interest and support.
The primary staff and children are extremely proud of our section and are always pleased to show current or prospective parents around so that you can see for yourself what we have to offer your children.
